Really pleased with the new filters and layout. One of the marineland 350 I’d a bit noisy but hopefully it will quiet down or I’ll exchange it. The other one is just about the same as the aqueon in terms of noise level which is really inaudible.
Simple tank has gone a bit berserk
Poor pea puffer is upside down. Bloated? Dropsy? Time to do some research.
So I got a spotted loach a few months back and this was when we were having 90 plus degree temperatures and I thought I lost him. Anyway, I was changing out the Aqueon filter to the new Marlneland and I threw all the filter media and bio media into a bucket and as I was draining out hte water, I saw movement and freaked out as it was going into the sink drain. Luckily, I was quick enough to catch him before he fell into the drain. YAY, I can’t believe he’s been living inside the filter all this time. Welcome back home to your tank fella.
Rescaped. Move one of the sword to the back left to even out the landscape.
So I’ve been using the Aqueon 55/75 HOB filter and it seems the flow rate has decreased substantially even after thorough cleaning. It’s still working great but I was thinking about an HOB filter w/ more filter media options. Petco had the Marineland 350 on sale for $31.99 (online) and $45.99 (on sale - in-store). I called and asked my local Petco if they would match the online price and they said YES. I had a bunch of Petco PALS awards and got 2 of them to replace the 2 Aqueons. I’ll swap them out a few weeks apart. There’s actually 4 slots and I’m planning on using the extra slots for more bio-media.
Baby assassin snails are roaming
Lesson learned. It eats all shrimps, even amanos that are 1”. Just gobbled it up.
